Climate Fund Managers (CFM) is looking for a dynamic Investment Manager to join our Latin American team, as an Investment Manager.


The role will be based in Bogota, Colombia and will require periodic travel to CFM regional offices as well as to projects within the CFM portfolio.


CFM was established in 2015 as a joint venture between the Dutch development bank FMO based in the Netherlands and Sanlam InfraWorks – part of the Sanlam Group of South Africa. Headquartered in The Netherlands, our offices span across the emerging markets we serve, located in Singapore, South Africa, and Colombia.


As one of the leading blended finance investment managers, our business is focused on responding to the climate crisis. We use blended finance structuring to attract public and private capital to invest in high-impact sectors in emerging markets aimed at addressing the thematic areas of climate change mitigation and adaptation, including renewable energy, water and oceans, sustainable land use, and sustainable cities.


The primary focus of this role will be for the Investment Manager to provide support to the Investments team, primarily in the origination and execution of transactions in their region, as well as regional support across all aspects of the business.




  • Development and interpretation of project finance models, including use of VBA macros
  • Financial analysis, review of financial statements and valuations
  • Risk identification and analysis
  • Support deal identification and origination
  • Input and analysis of potential financing structures
  • Identification and escalation of any relevant transaction dynamics to achieve execution outcomes
  • Research of power / energy market dynamics for companies operating across their region
  • Preparation of bid and transaction documentation and presentations
  • Production of written reports
  • Support the execution of development/primary/secondary market transactions - both new acquisitions and bolt-on acquisitions for portfolio companies


Qualifications & Experience


  • Honours Financial degree or equivalent
  • 5+ years’ experience within Private Equity, Investment Banking (M&A, corporate finance, or project finance), a Big Four Auditing firms, Management Consulting, or the Energy sector
  • Strong financial modelling skills
  • Financial acumen – the capacity to demonstrate knowledge of and insight into financial principles and processes and identify inconsistencies in data
  • Ability to apply sound business judgment and an analytical, pragmatic, and creative approach to problem solving
  • Desktop Research capability
  • Technically proficient (Advanced) in Excel, Word, PowerPoint
  • Project/process management
  • Ability to plan and prioritise effectively
  • Commercial orientation
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
